I just watched a troubling Nooma video. Here's a response to it by James White with clips from the original video. I'm with James on this one. I'm not sure what the motivation is behind Bell's revisioning of history.
I'm not all that familiar with Rob Bell or James White, but White's presentation was very well though-out and explained. If a person didn't know how to research history for themselves before hearing Rob Bell's framed and packaged videos, then I can see how he would be led astray. Even without the history lesson, though, one would think an understanding of the gospel would help refute Bell's "I am the gospel" mantra. The problem is that most people, even professing Christians, do not have a decent grasp of what the gospel is.

ReplyDeleteI saw this Rob Bell video a while back and was very frustrated. He is heading down a very dangerous path.
